The PHSCO entered her eigth year in 2008. As a fairly young Performing Arts’ group, the Orchestra continues her quest of gathering performance experience.

Over the years, the Orchestra has been nurturing musical talents and developing members’ character. In 2007, the Orchestra took part in 2007 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging of Chinese Orchestras (Secondary Schools) and clinched a Silver Award. In addition, two of our members, Christopher Tan (2D) and Chua Tin Ting (3H) were selected for the SYF Combined Schools Chinese Orchestra Presentation. Five members were also short- listed for the annual Chinese Orchestra Music Camp organized by MOE CCA Branch.

We are also greatly honoured that four members, Cheng Dao Han(2D), Justin Chua Jia Bin( 2F), Jeanette Yee Ai Ming(3G) and Zoey Neo Zu Yi(3F) were selected to perform for the Prime Minister’s Visit to Ang Mo Kio Community Centre on 29 September 2007.

Where external performance and community involvement were concerned, the Orchestra performed at the All Saint’s Home (Tampines) during Chinese New Year this year. Members also participated in the school’s Chinese New Year concert and were actively involved in the school’s fund-raising activities. Beyond development of interest in music and mastery of skills, members also participated in concert outings, bonding camps and activities that were organized by our student leaders.
